    1. How long will it take to receive a decision on my application?
For visa application processing times please refer to the Timings page on this website.

    2. I am a regular traveller to the UK. Is there any system under which my application can be expedited?
Yes. If you meet the criteria you may use the "Fast-Track" facility. All applications must be supported by relevant documentation and submitted at VFS office in Kampala between 0800 -1500 hours. You can usually collect your passport after two working days between 0900 - 1200 hours.

    3. Can I apply on behalf of a child?
Yes. You must bring the child's original birth certificate when applying for their visa. If you are not the child's parent then you will also have to support the application with a letter of parental consent, a copy of evidence of parent's identity e.g. passport and a letter from the child's school or college. However, the child has to come in person to the application centre for the Biometrics scanning to be done.

    4. Can I present my application by e-mail?
No, at present we do not have the facility for accepting visa applications by e-mail.

    5. Can I send someone to lodge my application?
No. All the applicants have to come in person to the UK Visa Application centre for the Biometrics scanning to be done.

    6. Will I have to be interviewed?
Most applications are considered on the basis of the details given on the Visa Application Form and other papers provided by you. In a small number of cases the Entry Clearance Officer will wish to interview you on a day of your choice.. You will be contacted if the Entry Clearance Officer wishes to interview you.

    7. When may I collect my passport?
Passport collection is between 0900-1200 hours at the VFS office Monday to Friday.

    8. Can I send someone to collect my passport?
No. You must collect your passport in person (apart from applicants over 60 years or under 14 years who do not have to collect in person. Applicants above 60 years who are not collecting in person should provide a signed letter of authority to the person who is collecting on their behalf).

    9. Can I receive medical treatment while on a visit to the UK?
If you do not normally live in the UK you will usually be asked to pay for any treatment you might need. This is regardless of whether you are a British citizen or have lived or worked there in the past. The Department of Health website has further details.

    10. Where can I get further information?
Local Visa Guidance & Advice or from the UKvisas website.

    11. Do I have the right to complain if I am not happy about the service I have received?
